The first half of the book traces the history of bere. The second half gives recipes, lots of new ideas about how to use beremeal.
Author Liz Ashworth says:-
‘On a research trip to Orkney, I discovered family connections to milling and baking on the islands dating back over 200 years.’
Liz has been an enthusiastic supporter of Barony Mill for many years and devised lots of recipes using beremeal. The traditional ‘bere bannock’ probably has as many recipes as folk who make it, many handed down from generation to generation.
Now you can try out those recipes and more modern ones in The Book of Bere.
