We continue to supply beremeal via our online shop and other outlets,
and thank you for your support.
During summer, the Mill is open to the public and has displays of photographs of old-time farming in Birsay, samples of the produce at each stage of the milling and milling tools. Tours include demonstrations of the running of the machinery.
Milling of bere happens in winter.
Meal is sold in 750g and 1.5kg bags for home use at the Mill, in shops and in our online shop. For commercial bakers, meal is supplied in 12.5kg and 25kg bags.
Barony Mills is a member of the Wind & Watermill Section, Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.
Our Beremeal is listed with Orkney Quality Food & Drink.
The Mill is located on the main road, A968, from Dounby to the Palace and the Brough of Birsay, both major tourist sites of Historic Scotland. See map below for directions.
Open every day, seven days a week, from May 31st to sometime in September from 11am until last tour at 4.15pm.
Admission fee: £3.50 for adults, children free.
